old man and i want to tick some monster barra off our species list, what time of year is best to fish for them in and around Darwin ?

Mid march to the end of april is one of the best times up there depending on the rainfall in the wet season now to march ,the more rain the better

Yeah mate March/April.........run off is looking good so far....4oomm roughly this month alone..

Timing is the key you need to be here as soon as the rain stops and the rivers drop.

What river/place are you thinking of fishing? and will you have a boat?

unfortunately soonest time we'll be able to make it due to business is august, and we have open access to a mates "50 thousand dollar boat", we have no idea what exactly it is. could be an awesome impoundment barra boat, or a 5 meter cab offshore boat. no clue.


what kind of tackle is required for the barra around darwin, we both have alot of gear aimed at reef fish in the swains. would this swap over, or do we need something different.

Well August is not prime Barra time so if ticking a "big girl" of your to do list is for that time of year forget it.

Also you will definatly need different gear compared to your drain swains bottom bouncing stuff,
