What a week end. Early on in the week looking at the forecast, it looked like it was going to be very average conditions and not to different from the previous week end, which was possibly one of the worst trips we have had getting to the north banks taking us 3h15min to travel 58km blowing a good 25 NE. Only to find strong currents and a hand full of fish including a flathead.

This week end was very different. We left Mooloolaba ramp dead on noon, and as we made our way out past the bar, we were greeted with weather we have been waiting for all year. It was a smooth ride going 40km/h in the 25fter with conditions getting better and better the further we headed out. 2hours and we arrived at our first spot with nothing showing on the sounder, we do a drift and up comes a lonely 45cm squire. Taking advantage of the good weather we decide to look for some new ground further north, so another 12km north we went to find a patch of reef with the sounder lighting up, we set up a drift and up come 2 tuskies and 2 perlies. Current? What current. We anchor up for the afternoon and it fires up. 20 perlies, 8 tuskie's and 4 gold band snapper coming on board in a 2hour session.

Soft Plastics failed again not getting any hits, surprise surprise.

Highlight of the day was when something took my pilly which was sitting a couple of meters off the bottom, the reel starts screaming and I’m thinking it’s got to be a shark, after a couple of good runs, we start to see colour and its showing red, thinking I have a good gold band snapper on, up comes a PB snapper/biggest fish I have ever caught.

Fish shut down by 7pm, we were back by 10pm with an amazing ride back to the harbour.

Thanks all, it was just good to be able to sit back and have a beer without getting my dentist upset.

I didnt get a chance to weigh it, it was heavy enough for me to not stop smilling, and it tasted great hehe
