Hi,

Just looking for a company to remove the antifoul from my boat on the Gold Coast, does anybody know who would do that type of thing and is it expensive? Boat is 6m Aluminium. Thanks in advance. :D

I just had mine done by someone north of Brisbane and it was soda blasted, like sand-blasting but with backing soda. Did a good job on my 6 mt f/glass hull.

These are not the guys who did mine nor do I know this company, but searched it and found this, http://www.sodablast.com.au/main.php?page_name=Find Your Local Sodablaster&PHPSESSID=4437c677b017b2ca3a27bed92cfb15c3#QLD.

Hope this helps.

Jeffrey

G'day,

There was a long thread on doing this DIY a week or three ago. Anyone recall the thread?

I did see another thread that mentioned a gel that can be used but this would be messy and may leave a very hard crust behind if not done right.

But as always if you search Ausfish for 'antifoul removal' you will get a lot of response.

Contacted 3 of these mobs and the cheapest quote I got was upwards of $1600, imo too expensive for what it is (I can get the boat reantifouled 4 times for that). I am going to contact same sandblasting companies in the new year and check out their prices, got a feeling they might be cheaper. Any recommendations would be great.

Happy Holidays :)

[QUOTE=Screamin;1105744]Hi, It's not too expensive. What are your plans once your antifouled is removed? Give the guys at Pro-Care Marine antifouling and detailing a ring! They work out of Southport and Coomera on the Gold Coast, they'll have all your answers for sure! http://www.boatantifoulingdetailing.com.au

aluminium hull is easy, with paint stripper and a pressure cleaner.
Problem is with removing it from fibreglass, I have done mine by hand.
If doing glass, look VERY closely at the finish left after the soda. It may require re-gelcoating.

After 4½ Years I think his antifoul fell off already.
