Chasing people's opinion on a Canvas hoochie as opposed to a normal tarp?? Will be used to tie either over tray of ute or from ute to ground when camping. Opinions??

Cheers,

Canvas has added weight and if wet is a pain in the but to handle. Poly is cheap, light and easy to pack if wet

Why not consider one of these

I have just bought one. The literally take 30 seconds to set up and about a minute to pack up. I hate the confines of a swag and I spent a few nights under a Hoochie and much prefer this

i find that it all depends on how long you are planning on camping, what the weather conditions are and what you sleep in.

If its blowing a gale and you are staying a week or more then the vinyl or canvas tarps will excel over any other tarp on the market. but if you are only doin a 2 night trip and its reasonably good conditions then just go with a standard poly tarp.

Although, those big oztrail thick silver/grey tarps are very good value for money, taken that they are treated right.
