i got a 3.7mtr tinnie i need to know the safety gear by law i need for a trip out in the bay? cheers guys, has been a while since i had a boat and have not kept up to date after i sold the last boat many years ago.

in moreton bay you will need pfd1's life jackets, v sheet, signalling device ie:torch , if more than partially smooth waters ie,about1k from land you will also need flares and map or gps ,you should also have a bailing device but if you do a google search on the boating website or coastwatch website it should allbe there to get it correct

have to have a bailing device. i carry 4 buckets in the bow cavity, a couple to act as a drouge if needed or for drifting. left with a spare for bailing and a bucket for anything else a need calls

a bit of an ask for people to tell you what you need..you should be looking at the msq website to check on the requirements you need. Not much good if you get pulled up by the WP or fisheries and say that , this is what the Ausfish blokes say I need. I don't think they will be too conducive to that excuse..have a good read over that site and inform yourself.
