I just done a test for Ethanol in petrol using the glass bottle and water method.
You should try it and be horrified.
I had a small bottle with no taper.
Added some water and made a mark on the outside.
Added some unleaded to almost fill the bottle and made another mark.
Gave it a good shake, the water separates immediately and returns to the same level.
It left all of this sit for two weeks, no change.
All of this is very good news.
I have just repeated the test with E10.
Straight away a very milky layer formed between water and petrol.
After a shake the water level has risen, I would say that 5% of the E10 has turned into water.
Also, the water takes a lot longer to separate after being shaken.
The sample will be left to sit for say two weeks and the test repeated.
I am horrified that this rubbish is being sold at all.
It just goes to show how much hold the sugar cane growers and the petrol companies have over our so-called government.
All sample fuel came from a high-turnover Shell petrol station.
You should all do the test and give yourself a good fright.
If you have any doubts about your fuel supply do this test whenever you fill up.
