Just wondering if a 4 M Edgetracker V NOSE punt would be suitable for fishing up around Cairns. It has a 25hp 4 stroke on back, but just wondering if this kind of boat is suitable up that far.
Having never been that far north I have no idea what the croc situation is like and if they like to jump on board your boat ? haha :P
Thanks

G'Day Ben
a 4m tinny is great for the rivers, creeks and dams up this way. Its not the crocs that are a worry

As Wahoo said your 4m tinny will be more than fine on the flat stuff - it will also probably get you out to the inshore wrecks/marks on a good day as well. I have a 3.95 Dart with a 25 and get out as far as Oyster Reef /Pixie Reef / Green Island Wreck on a very good day. (i've seen 12 foot flat punts out the Double Island wrecks before!!)
i say probably as i'm not overly familar with the edgetracker - if its the boat i think it is (not too far disimilar to a hornet in terms of size and "v-nose") - shouldn't have a problem - on a good day.
But if you are keen to fish the reef regularly - you will need a bigger boat.
