when i was a kid at groper creek in NQ it was quite common to see them swallow a hole dilly pot tied to the jetty . they would keep going till the rope snapped. gropers can re gorge up what they have swallowed what they cant digest . best one caught off the jetty was a 750 lb . now its only sand around the jetty yet the epa reckon theres no extra sand in the river.

Not long ago I was in my boat fishing near Peel Island and a large sea turtle came to the surface to take a breath. The water erupted and there was a lot of splashing and big fins coming out of the water and in an instant the turtle was gone and all became silent again. I know it was a large shark but as to what species I can't say. All I know is I am happy to remain seated in the boat at all times when in the bay. :)

gropers like all types of crustaceans as well as turtles. young turtles up to 18 inches across the back quite common rest amongst stone bottom's and are easy prey to the cod family.

Tiger sharks in the bay are known to smash sea turtles and i have witnessed one eating a large green turtle at the back of green.
