Been doing searches all over the net, including this very forum, and have come to the conclusion of building up a Samurai S001X 7'. The rod would be used for throwing plastics and small HB's mainly at bream, but will also hopefully be used for light estuary spinning, the odd flatty, trev and any other by catch. Not being able to see this blank first hand has got me thinking if it is truly suitable for my intentions or would i be better building on a S007 or the like? Is the S001X a tad on the light side for this application?
Any reccomendations of other blanks suitable would be great.

Cheers guys any opinions would be much appreciated

Thanks rodman. I suspected that. Could you provide any information on a suitable blank?

Assuming you want a 2-3kg outfit and your price range is under $100 you may want to just look at the S002X
It has a heavier butt section.
The S007 is much heavier, so you're kind of gone from one end to the other.

i have built the samurai s001x 7' for myself and for some mates and if you are after a specific 1-2kg with that slower action. i love mine and the others love theirs. It suits what we are using it for. i also love my s002x and my s003 both just over 7'.

Hi ant_72,

would you say the s001x 7' would be whippy enough and have a slow enough action to be used as a whitng rod out of a boat?

I'm still chasing a decent light blank for a whiting rod.

thanks
Adam

The s001x would be perfect for a whiting rod...... for the bream rod + flatties and trevors I would step up to the 2-3kg blank. Just a bit more purposeful feel and will load up better for a more positive case.
