hi all,
heading up to hervey bay for work next week and have convinced the boss to put me up for 2 weekends.
So i,ve decided to tow the boat up (4.2m tinnie) for a spot of fishing.
Just want to know if it would be safe enough to cross from hervey bay to fraser and fish in between, and posibly swag it on fraser for the night.
any help would be good
Cheers

It's quite safe, even in average weather. up near the northern end of fraser can get a bit hairy with a strong northerly wind but it's generally pretty protected.

Good areas for a tinny that size out the back of Woody and the Picnics, basically east of the harbour. Good spots for a swag on all of the islands and less sandflies too.
Schoolies are in, as are the bigger flathead.
Was there last week and had a fine time.

Watch the weather though, it's getting into a summer pattern early this year - if a big arvo northerly kicks, seek cover until after dark when they generally slack off a bit.

Have fun

If you get caught over there in a weather change wait at mooney point for the barge, get under the back of it as it crosses and he will clear the path. Smooth sailing back to the harbour.
