I am thinking of buying a 120litre under floor fuel tank It will be about half the price of a custom made stainless tank The poly manufacturer has many dimensions to choose from and I have found one that fits great. Are the any drawbacks in having a poly tank

Not many draw backs at all, you will find that most Auminium Boat builders put poly tanks in there boats and so do a lot of the Fiberglass builders these days. They are all rated out of the factory and have very few problems, biggest thing you have to remember is they will expand and contract a little so the area you are putting it in just needs to be a little bigger only by about 10mm around the tank. Just use the black rubber fuel hose, it’s the best stuff for under the floors.

No problems at all , most boat buildres use them, in USA they used them for years.
My Trophy has a 326 lt plastic tank, haven't had a problem with it at all.
Don't forget cars have had them for a long time too.
S/S tanks crack and alloy tanks corode, plastic out of the sun, no worries at all.
If I was buying or building a boat, I wouldn't use anything else .

Thinking about the same thing myself.I have 25 litre portable tanks and want to put a 40 litre down the back. Will there be any dramas filling it in the boat or will I have to take it out to fill?

Thanks
