Well it's been a while since I have been to Ausfish, married, children, sold my boat, stop laughing its not funny. Soon the kids will be old enough and I can take them fishing, can't wait. And selling the boat was a good excuse for a bigger one in years to come.

Well, I have got a couple of emails from Aus Fish members asking for some waypoints and advice for fishing around Darwin NT so I have created a website using google maps that allows you to view waypoints for boat ramps, fishing locations with advice for launching, fishing techique etc on an google map. You can also submit your own waypoints to the site, currently it is bare bones and I'm researching what people would think would be useful.

Where should I post some questions about what people would like/expect, I'm not going to post any links, I'm not a spammer, just looking for some serious advice from the community. Can't go fishing so I'm happier to give up my waypoints.

Well, looks like the user input side of things is well covered, just have to create a database of my fishing spots and warnings. Seems a bit is mssing from Darwin Harbour and Dudnee Beach from a quick look. ie: No wrecks listed fo Darwin Harbour

Is this a new Site or has it been up and running for a while?

Where would be a good place to submit a link to my sample site on AusFish or is that forwned apon.

I'd just post the link here, I don't see why it should cause any harm, you are afterall just sharing fishing info of a region, and isn't that what Ausfish is all about?

Well here is a link, the site is absolutely bare bones have only uploaded sample data, in this link you will find the Saltwater Arm Boat Ramp and a Polygon showing the area affected by the Rock Bar.

I'm still in the process of creating guides and help files for navigation and submitting waypoints. Before I go too much further would appreciate some feedback around what would be useful and what is a waste of time.

I have added some sample items to the first map you are directed too being the Saltwater Arm and Adelaide River Mouth area, this include sample waypoints with boat ramp advice and some polygons detailing areas of shallow water, rock bars and sand bars.

I have also created a help file on how to submit waypoints and the different areas can be accessed from the Top Menu "Find a Reef" with menus for the different areas I have added waypoints for so far.

Some Advice please on Waypoint Options
The Component allows for 2 types of waypoints, decimal and sexagesimal, I currently have it set to sexagesimal, Question is what do most people use, any reccomended settings? Below are the Waypoint options I have, all input appreciated.

Use the find a reef menu on the top bar to naviagte the maps, once in a map you can use the search map or enter coordinates manaully in the navigation pane on the left hand side.

I have only populated the area around saltwater arm and the dundee beach boat ramp so not much to see, Choose Saltwater Arm from the drop downmenu and you will ee the polygons for the rock bars etc. Thanks for the feedback guys, if i can't fix this IE issue it may be a dead duck.
