Hi All I'm looking at a 70hp 1998 model Suzuki 4 banger. Is there any problems I should know about before I put down any of the miss'es hard urned.

Its done about 350 hours I think.

why a 70 Hp is that already on a boat?

Its about to come off a boat (savage streaker). Why not a 70hp?

I guess other than it is 11 years old, no reason not to buy it, as long as all the usual checks turn out OK, unless it has service records with dates that correspond to the hours, I would forget how many hours they TELL you it has!

The reason is what boat is it going on ?

And would a 70HP be big enough to do the job, when maybe you should be looking at a 90 or 140HP.

Or even a lighter motor for the max transom weight for the intended boat.

Cheers.

Thanks guys. Its going on a hh16r which has currently got an old 115 yami which likes a drink. I think 70hp would be about the minimum for the boat but at least I won't have to carry all that weight in fuel.

The computer readout says 362 hours and there is a service record which I am yet to eyeball. Can we trust those computer readouts?

dont know about that boat but goin to a 70 4 stroke form a 115 2 stroke is a big power loss, maybe try and find say a 100 or 115 4 stroke, u would probably be surprised on the 115 4stroke fuel consumption to the 70 4stroke on that boat as the 115 wouldnt have to work no were near as much compared to the 70, 70 seams to small to me but that just goin off of what u have on it know.

I'm thinking you'll be very disappointed, with a 70hp ! It may also be as thursty as the old motor trying to do the same job..

was goin to say that but thought it shouldnt be, altho i do reckon the 115 4 banger would be better on fuel then the 70.

Thanks for your thoughts . The 115 makes the boat go like a cut cat, up to 90 kph so far and counting. It was set up as a ski boat . I don't need that sort of power for my needs, only when I want to show off.
