Johnson 115 - 1997 to 2002

i`m looking at buying an johnson 115 to go on my old seafarer ventura dose any have any sugestions on this model or things to look for befor Puchasing, was there any major probles that i sould know about. or dose any one have some sujestions?

Ive got two 115s of that vintage

No real issues that cannot be fixed as they happen, just service properly.

Get what you have in mind checked by an OMC BRP Master Tech if possible before you buy.

They had water ingestion issues and a recall in the early models of the years you speak of. A compression test will show if no.4 cylinder was affected by this. I had a 115 ocean runner for a few years (300 odd hours?)and it was a good motor - can't remember any specific issues with it apart from shorting my hand out on the binacle when adjusting the trim with a wet hand (took a while to work it out - just a pinched wire). The mech who tested mine informed me of the injestion issues.
