hi, looking for help on anchoring kcat2400.

It has an anchor winch, how deep should I use it and is it better than using a float bouy retrival.
If I use a float should I tie it off to the side or front of the boat when diving it off.

One thing to consider with using your winch off shore is that winch rope and chain to replace is about $300-$400 dollars so if you send it down on some reef and don't get it back could cost a bit to replace. I have the same boat as you and I only use the winch where I know I will get it back. I run a Fish box with 200m of 12 mm rope in the back of the boat for all ofshore anchoring. Deploy from the side with rope running up the side of boat threw the bollard and away.Tie rope off on side cleat halfway down the boat. Makes anchore retreival and setting a sinch as all is done from inside cabin and not out on the bow. I still have rope tied off threw the bow sprit when retreiving using the float just drive off at more of an angle to make sure you clear the boat and motor.
