Another pleasant day aboard Baitrunner...superb weather all day..could not have asked for better. We ventured about 40 miles out...some of the spots the fishing was slow and others they wanted to play. Various species caught: Hussar, Maori Cod, Parrot, Moses Perch, Wrasse.
Johnno caught 2 good Maori Sea Bream
Webby , as usual, has o be different...lands a top Green Jobfish and a legal red.
I cannot wait for the next trip up there.

Some good fish there. I love the look of those Green Jobfish. there is something of a prehistoric look to them

Yep great day, new PB on Jobbies, (10kg).
The reds were hard to find, finally after a couple just under the last one one legal.
Conditions were glazed most of the day, even with the Rainbow Comp on there were not many boats about.
Johns sea bream were certainly the biggest i've seen, even Craig had never seen them that big.
Most of the boys in the Rainbow comp, coming over the radio said it was a tough slog out there finding a quality fish.
Also caught some yakkas that had been taking steriods, 35cm yakka unbelievable.

Must of been a smile a mile wide on all your faces when you saw the conditions, you couldn't ask for better, how are those Sea Bream like for eating?

Japanese sea bream is another name for them or even Robinson' sea bream or Robertson's sea bream whichever it is.

Queensland Fisheries field guide describes the fish as a Robinson's sea bream (Gymnocranius grandoculis) called Maori sea bream in Grants guide to fishes.

Craig the skipper of "Baitrunner" caught a 5kg specimen last year. Craig must have visited the same reef.;D

there were a few boats out there...quite a bit of chatter on the radio..I think I heard a couple of AF members talking away.

Those bream sure fight hard, even the smaller models fight all the way up. What sort of depth were you in?
