G'Day all
Was in the local ( Wynnum ) Supercheap Sunday morning, saw a 2000gph pump for $59.90 and a float switch for $18.50, usual made in China job for SCA.
They had 12 mth warranty.
Was considering getting one, has anyone had any experience with them?
Obviously not a Johnson / Rule etc, but........................
I have a 1400 GPH on the boat now, but not hooked up to a float switch.
Thanks
Bill

What you could do that would make friends with the SCA staff is take the pump out of the box take it over to the batteries in the shop sit there all day turning it on and off dry and see how it goes.
A couple of hundred times should be enough.

I might take my chances with a cheap pump in the short term but consider the switch must be good quality, hard to trick from working and long life.
What about one of these (see below) straight away + a cheap pump then upgrade later to a better pump ASAP at least then you will at some point end up with quality good gear sooner or later.

i actually fitted the above pump as a secondary in case the first one failed. it is the basic mercury switch so wont be much different as any other. ive had the housing give way on johonson pumps and rule doesnt always lock in well enough in sharp chop up here.
SCA is a very large maker of pumps for many applications so i wouldn't be surprised it is a far better quality than ruhle or Johnson pumps which overall are adequate but in no ways brilliant.

As far as i know both ruhle and johnson pumps are now made in china and this is also the reason why neither of them seem to last over a year now!!! I've still got a USA made ruhle on the cat it's must be nearly 5 years old and it gets used alot ( last trip 64 hrs straight without a stop) and it's still going strong ! I dont know what i'll do when it packs it in but it wont be replaced with a new ruhle or johnson thats for sure!!

OK here's a couple of links.
What brand are these pumps

http://panu.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6007000441050/pdtl/Marine-equipment/1005201687/Marine-Equipment.htm
They're definitely Chinese.
Out of curiosity have a gander at the rest of their products.

Surprising what high end gismo's are Chinese so if you think Chinese crap is crap another think might be in order.
