A trailer boat full to the brim with goods donated by local Dubbo businesses is having the finishing touches added by the Inland Waterways Rejuvenation Assoc (IWRA) before being towed across the Central West to numerous events. The trailer boat, from Matthew’s Motorcycles and Marine, will be raffled at a cost of $2 per ticket and drawn on Christmas Eve with the lucky winner taking home thousands of dollars in prizes, goods and services that the Dubbo community has generously donated.
The IWRA trailor boat raffle was founded off the back of previous fundraising efforts which saw over $15,700 raised to purchase native fish fingerlings such as Golden Perch and Murray Cod, which are expected to be released in December this year. Applications were submitted to the DPI (Department of primary industries) upon drawing the “Engel fridge full of AusSpin Lures” raffle last year, to apply for dollar for dollar restocking grants, which could see last years total funds acquired sore to $25,700.
The generosity of the Dubbo community has been simply astounding, as a level of concern for our local rivers’ health is clearly held in high regard by many citizens, so if you see IWRA members out and about with the trailer boat in tow please dig deep and help save our rivers and dams.
The IWRA is keenly seeking more members, and anyone interested in helping out by donating a prize to put in the trailer boat raffle, or by selling tickets, is welcome to do so by contacting IWRA President Matt Hansen on 0427 454 357, or IWRA Vice President Mick O’Neill on 0402 232 479.
