Went for a run on sunday for a squid and a spear with Blacksunday while he was here for a week. Weather wasn't forecasted to be good with a SW in morning easing to a 5/10 knot's. So we went squiding at a spot i usaully go to for 12 squid went we oversized . They were hungry and played well as there were sometimes 2 and 3 attacking the jig as one squid was caught up on the jig. We went for a troll later in the day with no success with lots of bait schools showing with fish around but no takers on the Xraps.
Off for a spear se me in the water by myself as Balcksunday chickened out . Spearing one bluey and missing a nice trout ......we tried a couple spots then home we went just after 1 pm .

Nice going JT,

Fresh squid is a winner. I had some for tea tonight!;D

Those Bluies are tricky buggers to spear mate. What size did he go? Any pics?

I am starting to think about targetting squid for both bait and a feed. Will see how I go in the next few months.

Great outcome with a tasty feed like that.

Cheers

The bluey is in the right hand corner mate nothing monsterous 35 cm was all he went , Not much to offer apart from a heap of moke and johnny Reds .
Anytime Rosco .
Brother is here for a bit over a week from staurday and weather is a bit dusted so Sunday may be another squid and spear trip doubt the wind will drop much. Going on a charter trip with work tomorrow so will have some good pics hopefully.

good one JT. I didnt see a one while we were out. Tuesdaynight. Reckon I should have moved in closer to the reef. I'm still trying to get the black ink off the nose of the boat from our last trip:-/

Very nice squid JT,

Seems like no one down this way (Brisbane) goes out to catch any otherwise I'm sure I would have had an invite by now, It's only been 2 years since I put a post up.
