Hi guys;
Just a quick post to confirm the Squire and Snapper were still on the 36's - NE of the seaway this morning - nothing huge but mostly keepers. Few small pearlies, trag and the odd bonito. Pretty quiet day all round from what we heard on the radio.
Good luck

Hi plato,
thanks for the report. Approx how much further is it to travel to the 36s from the 24-27 area out from the seaway

The NE 36's takes around 45 minutes from the Seaway at 17/18 knots.
I guess that means around 13/14 nautical miles from land.
The NE 50's are 19/20 nautical miles offshore.
Hope that helps
Peter
PS: The best Snapper came on floatlined pilchards on a double hook 8/0 rig. We had a couple of steam trains hit them as well. Probably Samson fish or big Kingies.

G'day Platitudinus,

How often you go outside? I got a couple of kingie jigs too easy to hook up on kingies or a samson. I'll put in towards fuel if you have room for one extra.

Cheers, Peter

Hi Bondy;
Being semi-retired I go out quite often but use the bigger charter boats if I want to go after the bigger stuff on the 36's and 50's. Its more comfortable for an old man! Haha.
Regarding the steam trains - we hooked up all right - the problem was stopping them on 10-15kg and 15-25kg outfits. For snapper we prefer to go with 10-15kg rods and lines and unless the kingies, sambo's or AJ's are small - you really have no chance if you can't get them off the bottom quickly.
Anyway - the best fishing of the year is July & August so enjoy!
