Hi everyone,

I've just completed a work I've had going for a little while now on a Snapper Master blank from Fish Finder in Sydney. The blank is a Snapper Master 642 and is "the" perfect weapon for soft plastic snapper and small to medium kings. The rod has a more parabolic arc than many other rods for SP fishing. It still has heaps of low down power. All the fittings are from Matagi. The cork is inlayed exotic burl cork with 6-8 coats of Tru-oil. I used fuji single foot YSG and LSG guides.

Another beautiful work of art Mark.
Who manufactures the blank, any specs and approx $ (for the blank), please.
Cheers.

Nigelr,

There is a bit of a story with these blanks and they are some of the newest technology you'll find anywhere. They are built by Kilwell in NZ who also make the Carbon Fibre masts for Ocean racing yachts. Fish Finder have the exclusive rights to the blanks and they are very hard to get hold of. They retail in the vicinity of of $180 -220 (not cheap). I've built the 642 (in these photos) and the 644 Copperhead rod 8-12kg. I will be getting a 643 6-8kg very soon. The actions are a lot more moderate than most blanks currently on the market and there is some fantastic power in the butts. I really hate saying blanks are unbreakable because they make you look stupid but these blanks are right up there for toughness. If you are interested contact Tony Davis at fishfinderpl@bigpond.com or look up the Fish Finder site. Tony also does some really nice work on his rods.

Thanks for the comment on the rod photos posted. This one is for the AFTA Show in August.
