Well after getting a coral trout on charter a couple of months ago I was only thinking mulloway were the only main thing alluding me on charter so far. Got the legal red over Christmas. Saturday changed that and we ended up with two nice ones. Now to upgrade a few to a 10kg red, 20+ spanish and a 20+ hoo. I know I have had 20+ hoo on this year but they were too good for us. This was Eddie's report on another fishing forum.

"Headed out saturday with Smithy for a fullday jigging and live baiting for AJs & Kingies. Weather was perfect and the fishing was insane. Ill let the pics tell the story http://www.brisbanefishing.com.au/components/com_kunena/template/default_ex/images/english/emoticons/w00t.png Many bigger fish were lost after being bricked on the reef.

And a bit of video from Eddie's phone. One of the Jew. You'll also hear Shane or Glen getting done by an AJ in the early part of the fight on the other side of the boat.

Great fishing Rob, we fished out wide on Saturday for a bag of pearlies and 4 kings but not in your caliber!

Cheers, Rog

Smithy why did you say" free spool" and take the rod off him?
Was he going to lift it out of the water?
They seemed to look as if they knew what they where doing.
Nice jewies

Like a lot of demersel fish it had blown up and floated up right next to the boat. He was on the starboard side and the fish was on the port side. I have a lot of crap at the back of my boat like a propellor, outboard foil, 2xtransducers, 2xtrim tabs, live bait tank pick up and pump, berley bucket, boarding ladder etc., certainly plenty of places to lose fish. I couldn't be sure which thing it was tangled on so I said to freespool. I think in the end the line went down one side of the bumper strip trim thing and out the other side.

Eddie never put these pics in but I thought they were pretty interesting. Back in the Signature days I sounded a bit of wire weed but with no show on it. I have looked at it a couple of times since but still hadn't fished it as I like shows. This time is didn't look like a normal show either but I could mark piggys and pearlies up to 15m off the bottom but not in traditional pearlie spires. I had seen pearlies mark like this before on the Gold Coast 50s where they were 20m off the bottom and gave us red hot fishing on big fish. The bottom also looked a lot more alive but not a usual sorta fish show. We ended up finding what I named in my plotter pigfish heaven. It was a tough debate to call it that or the comet cod nursery. We pulled about 4 comet cod off it as well as numerous ok size piggies and just under and just over pearlies. Octo jigs fished as good as anything and dragging through the wire weed we ended up suprisingly snag free on all rigs.

70gms in close and 150-200gms out wide. Yep both of those brands but nothing wrong with the R2Ss for the price.
