a bloke who came into work went and hired a house boat for the weekend and put some lines out for a shark, anyway one of his tiagra rod and reel combo's hooked up and the rod holder broke so there goes a $1300 combo, anyway next day when they went to pull up anchore he noticed fishingline caught round it, after pulling 100m or so of line up comes his tiagra rod/reel!
reel felt like crap after 12hours in the saltwater but got a full repair for only a few hundred

My personal best was an old nail bag with hammer still attached at the end of palm cove jetty in far north queensland and the same night a kid was fishing using a real cheappie rod and pulled in an ugly stick reel and all.

Was that around the time that Bob the Builder went missing on a fishing trip?

once lost a big bream on gangs cos eyes werent closed properly, next week went back to same spot n my line snared through the open eye of the hook, pulled it up to find the double rapped around the open eye of the hook, wether it was same fish or not i have no idea.... but the bream went a kilo plus;D
still not quite(spelling) a missile though

I was fishing last week and I hooked a tinny :P

Well, to clarify... We were flicking plastics for tailor/jewies and a bloke trolling came a little too close and I didn't wait long enough to cast... my plastic had hooked one of his lures or vise versa... My line sure started peeling off well. :P
