OK, this stuff is not for the precision rod builder who takes great pride in his lashings etc. but it IS for the guy who wants a very quick and easy application to keep on busted runners and even as far as making a whole new rod from stratch.
It comes in various colours and is "sticky free" to work with providing you do not let it touch itself. The tape is about 20 mms wide and a litter thicker than electrical tape. As a result this WILL make your lashings somewhat thicker than the nylon thread and maybe a bit bulky for the purists.
For me I can live with that when viewed against the fact it is so simply and handy to use. I re-did an estuary rod in red with a small yellow band on the ends and it looks damn good if I do say so.
It is also great for whipping your rope ends and as the name intends can be applied to to broken AND STILL LEAKING petrol/water/oil pipes and fittings to get you home.
