what sealant to seal up the transom where engine mount bolts penetrate?

sika? if so, what product number

or, non acetic cure silicone

or something else?

not quite sure what will be the best, but will also have a reasonable working time to assemble it all back together

cheers

A marine polyurethane, sika 291?? is the cheapest. Silicone is for chumps or Gals:) stick the leftover tube in the freezer with a plastic shopping bag over the end, it will then last a year+. To extend set time start with a frozen tube from the freezer (it doesnt actually freeze).

Yes Sika291 is the correct sika product, but why do we always recommend an imported product when Bostik Matrix FC is the same product made right here in good old Australia.

I would be wary of using ANY silicone product on the engine bolts. Acetic cure will cause corrosion and most silicones say "not for permanent water immersion". I would definatly use a urethane, even if your boat doesn't live in the water at least you would be using something thats made for the job.
