How much are they?

Certainly not cheap, 535usd plus postage is the cheapest i have seen them but also as high as 700usd. Thats at least about $750 Australian all up. Very nice reel though ;D.

Cheers Chris

Price is of no importance for something this limited and exquisite.
This reel is new,and Jun is one of the best vendors I dealt with.

Sweet ride mate. In all honesty I think they are a bargain.
There are plenty of reels out there that don’t represent similar bang for your buck.

Congrats mate. I hope it is everything you’d hoped it would be. :D

great stuff Mick, looks just like the one i got;D i see we have similair tastes in tackle...

i had been following the development of this reel for ages, and was lucky enough to secure one as soon as they came out through my japanese contact for a very good price, down around 550. price was irrelevant though, had to have one to complement my i'ze light....

These reels are made to be used. No glass cabinets at my place either. I can't see myself ever getting sick of the I'ze mate. Did you see the Abu Revo Elite ###### at Fish Head? Sweet looking reel, but not really finished to the same standard as the Daiwas.

I got both the Revo Aur oras but I have to hide them until Pam's birthday in July. I've asked to have dibs one of the Monoblocs and the 103HL when they arrive. Pam wants another Monobloc in a different colour for her Megabass Emelia. Didn't get the Presso, Pam was keen onthe spool and handle for her 2500 Certate until she saw the price.

Hey aussie basser nice ###### mate. :D

Probably the pick of the litter when it comes to the new lo pro stuff (imho anyway. )That abu bug has bitten me proper. I have one LNIb 2500 Ciar and one BNib 2500 ci on the way to me from the gold old US of A.

4629246291

It seems the guy over there would rather have my BNIB ornage pixy than those two reels. Seems like a fair swap to me.

Almost sold my I'ze light to fund another purchase but that has fallen over so instead of selling i might go back to buying. ;)

Now i wonder if there are anymore of these SSS ringas about....:-/

Hijack all you want mate;D I'm about to myself;) Yes an I'ze is on my hitlist too,but there is this little matter of paying for a few rods first that I must attend to...
Hey Dale, while we are in abu mode, did you ever get one of those AE74's???

aussiebasser
20-05-2009, 10:21 PM
No Mick,

The Auroras are the first Abus I've bought in years. The last one was a two speed 5600C that lasted one trip to Peter Faust. All the Abus are now pensioned off. I cannot get past Daiwa for reliability. The Revos were purely for bling value, Pam will love it, and she hasn't seen one yet so it'll be a nice surprise. Her birthday is the last day of our trip to Baia this year, so I may have to present it to her early. She can strap it to her B6-6. Did I mention we're going to Baia in 8 weeks time!!!! I'll be able to let you know how the Pluton performs after then. I used it in Darwin at Easter but couldn't get a fish on it. It balances nicely on the Megabass Orochi White Python. Also hope to get a Barra on the TWS60 at Awoonga in June.

Baia=nirvana;D Would like to hear all about it..will look for report here or at sweetwater.
You certainly have a complete arsenal of top end gear that you use.
Congratulations on such a fine collection, and again fantastic to see you USE it too8-)

I too share your sentiments about daiwa gear, very reliable.
When you get to use it,I am interested in your thoughts on the pluton.
P.M would be appreciated if you dont want to post here.

As I said I used the Pluton in Darwin Harbour. Throwing a Jackall Doozer 7 colours on Penn 30lb braid is a fair effort for the reel, although the White Python is a pretty awesome rod. The Pluton is much smoother than the Blue Backers and the Black Sheep. The soft grips arre worth the expense too. I can't see it having any vices in PNG. Buying this gear and not using it would be a bit like marrying Elle MacPherson and not...........well, you know!!!

Feels so much smoother now.And with the polishing, the thumb bar re-engagement too is a lot more "connected"-nice solid snick instead of that raspy smack noise that was present before the work.

very nice Mick...did you drop a carbontex kit in while you were at it? the only negative when it comes to daiwa overheads is the crap drag material...even bass manage to destroy 'em

i see it has the same hard anodised alloy main gear as the i'ze light (also same material used in steez and alphas F/R) i was worried about the durability on big barra but both my i'ze light and steez have caught many big fish and are still going strong

speaking of reliability/durability, might have to finally crack my bay casting and polish/service it. after 4 years or so barra use including the odd dunking to dig snagged lures off structure, on the weekend up at lakefield i noticed it a little notchy when re-engaging after casting....and my i'ze light, well that went for an unintentional swim at mondy a few years ago and still hasn't been cracked either, still smooth as the day i bought it

alphas

It was a spur of the moment thing doing the reel last night...supposed to be working:-X
Getting a carbontex kit today Andrew.I like to reassemble a reel and give a quite a few good winds, and then remove the sideplate again to make sure the grease has'nt thrown everywhere too excessively anyway.
Not a concern with the hot sauce brand of grease, holds really well.
The ZPI f-0 grease was the brand that made me pick up this habit...Always used to throw off the main gear after use:-/

Go for the polish mate next time you have those reels apart, certainly makes a difference.

DC-7's(or as Kev would say,Antares;) )are a great reel..if I did more saltwater I would definately have one8-)

I have read somewhere though they are saltwater safe because they have ARB bearing they are not recommended for saltwater use. I have not had any problems with mine for light saltwater applications but im not sure they cast control system would not cope well with a constant drenching of salt spray, this coupled with the fact they are a nightmare to dissamble and clean (apparently) makes them probably better suited to fresh water applications. In saying that however i have a fuego which is not recommended for saltwater use at all and it still is probably my main baitcaster reel i use in both fresh and salt water, and almost 2 years on still no dramas.
