just wondering if mercury marine vengance props fit yamaha 4 strokes, I have a 60hp high thrust 4stk on hooker 5m profisherman,I have just changed from original 13 pitch to trial 15 stainless solas the new prop gives alot better mid range 4200 20knts but can only rev out to about 4800 to 5000 wot . T,the 13 would rev out fairly easy but sitting the motor at 4200 it was to slow about 15 knts. Solas don t do a 14 pitch only 13 then to 15. I thougth the 14 would be spot on any advice appreciated cheer Yamp

Don't discount the 15p aluminium Yamaha, it has a relatively low surface area which may work in your favour. SS will 9 times out of 10 do nothing more than another aluminium prop in our slow deeply run engine applications.

The Vengeance 14 has a relatively large surface area so at a guess don't expect it to hit your top recommended rpm. there is a chance the veng 14 and the alum yam 15 will pull close to the same rpm although you will be travelling faster with the 15.

What rpm do you call rev out? you might be stuck with the 13 in off the shelf props.

how s going fnq, the yamaha 13 we had on originally was ok, just really slow if you wanted to cruise at around the 4200 to 4500 rpm I just had a look at some perfomance figures I wrote down awhile back it would do about 15knts at 5400 and 12knts at 4800rpm and would do around 20 to 21kts at 6000 rpm. With the 13 it seemed you only really started to get anything like a decent travelling speeds with the motor reving high up in the rev range5700 to 6000. I thought this must be fairly hard on the motor and chew the juice. with the 15 solas it planes ok and gives a good speed at 4200 20 knts but just can't get to the full 6000 at wide open throttle. I thought about also trying to raise the motor a hole it is currently just level with the keel might give it a go and see if it cavitates or not . the solas site states the the engine height is really important on the bigfoot motors. cheers Yamp

Yamp, yamaha do list a 14 pitch in alum for the standard 60hp 4stroke, have you checked to see if they do one for the high thrust.

Yamp, i have the same engine on my V-sea, running a 13 1/4 x 15-k ally prop that it came with, i normally cruise @ 4300rpm = 20km, wot is 30knts doing 5400rpm, i have 120 hours up..

FWIW, I also have the same outboard merc 60 4 st EFI, running the original 13 pitch vengeance prop. I get about 31 knots at WOT which is 6000 rpm, about 20 knots at 4200 rpm, about 12 knots at 3500 rpm. Also getting around 3km/litre. This is on a V146C half cab. Cav plate is about 20mm above the keel.

finally got the boat out for another trial today.I raised the motor up a hole now on third hole from the top.The boat has a solas 15 inch for the run two onboard fairly lightly loaded for the test.figures were on the plane about 4000rpm 20 knts, 4500-22knts,5000-26knts,5200-28 knts fully trimmed abit quicker at 5400rpm wot, seems like I will have to go down in pitch, not sure if a 13 ss solas would give much better performance than the old yammie aluminium 13 5/8 x13?. The leg higher seems to be fine no cavitation problems also picked up revs from last test although had one extra crew last test.Sounds like the 14 vengance might be the pick? any advice appreciated cheers Yamp
