Hi guys.

I just got back from my EPIC NZ trip and it was great.

9 anglers headed over to NZ to sample some of NZ's kingy action.

I was blown away by the calibre of fish. I was reefed numerous times by unstopable fish.

My main stay outfit was a Saltiga 6000 GT spooled with 80lb jigman running 130lb-150lb leader on a Jigwrex 526 rod. Whilst not the most practicle jigging outfit, it did the job.

We were using jigs ranging from 220g up to 420g.

I mamanged a heap of good kings and 1 lone hapuka.

Here are the pic.

Cheers

Lee

Hapuka came on the 420g magic between 80m-100m

Conditions were actually quite ok. Most of the pics with long jumpers or spray jackets were because of the spray and wash from the transom.

A fish in NZ the same size in AUS pulls much much harder.

To begin with some of the rats, normally under 100cm to the fork (well thats what New Zealanders call rats), pull very very hard compared to what I have caught here.

Who you fishing with when you go over?

Yes and the weatehr was against us so imagine it when its not so sloppy. Quicker runs to and from the grounds means more fishing options.

A mate of mine greg...possibly.

The debate is whether to chase GT's on poppers
or Jig for kings..??
