Hi to all,

I have a couple of old Sabre blanks from the 80's that I love, and that hold many great captures and memories but I haven't used for years. Plan is to completely rebuild them using all the latest fittings and start enjoying using them again. Problem I have is I would like to change the colour from the original honey blank colour. Can this be done successfully and with durability and if so is there any paint shop or business in particular that can do this for me to get the best professional finish. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I painted a blank with acrylic laqure, it can be purchased at autobuarn or paint shops
'then add laqure softining agent( you will have to ring around to find this)
just dont put too much in or it will be very soft

cheers

Automotive 2pc paint will be fine mate, been spraying all my blanks for over 20 years with no worries at all.

Just a quick tip, if you go into a panel shop and ask them nicely if they can give the rods a coat of auto 2 pack next time they are spraying a car the colour you want, shouldn't be a hassle. Make sure you prep the rods very well. Rub them right back with some fine wet and dry until all the old finish is gone. Then wipe the blanks down with metho to remove any grease or contaminant. I've had a couple done this way and they turn out stunning. Remember to get them to put on some clear coat as well.
