Today I had Dwayne from Toowoomba out again along with his boss Mick. Getting bait was tough but we scratched up a few and headed back inshore to try for a spanish mackeral. It didn't happen so we headed out again looking for bait. It proved hard to get and we trolled with high speed leadheads out over all my marks hoping to pick up a wahoo while looking for it. Eventually we ended up on a mark I have and bottom fished. It was hard to anchor on in the wind and I must have re-anchored about twelved times on every wind direction change and current change. Liveys worked best again but we also caught fish on Octo jigs which I think will be the gun lure this year as well as plastics. We caught a couple of gold spot estuary cod around this size on the live baits like what Dwayne is holding up, the pearly was on a plastic or octopus jig and at least one of the couple of moses perch we caught came on the octo jigs. Plenty of baby red emperors and pearlies were released. A bit of a tough day but the boys had fun with only freshwater experience behind them.

Ahh smithy about time we started to see some off the bottom getting sick of seeing all the wahoo and spanos and tuna and marlin you have caught over the summer months. You must be proud of your business as I have never read a bad comment about trips out with you ( well maybe 1 but he was a tosser). Good luck with the snapper season hope to see photos of all the big knobs you put your customers onto again this year. Cheers mate Brendan.......

The Shimano Lucanus Jigs and the River2Sea equivalents and I see Gillies do a cheaper one again. The proper Jap ones are very bloody expensive like their knife type jigs.
