I have a problem with my 150EFI mercury saltwater.

It seems to starve of fuel. I have played around with the fuel supply and I dont believe that is the problem.

I think it must be a fuel pump problem. It will idle along at 1500rpm all day but as soon as you put her up on the plane it will run for 15 seconds or so then just die.

Any help appreciated

Dont think so.

I have drained fuel. New fuel in. Has a water separating filter in it.

Aaron

After it sits for a while can you start it and repeat the performance?

If so it may be that one of the springs on either side of the fuel pump diaphram has let go.

Had it happen twice within 10 hrs on both my 115HP OMCs. Fixed pump problem gone forever.........so far.

(RAG (9.9 drained / flushed bowls, no difference, motor is off to marine tech tomorrow. Maybe electrical time wil tell anyhoo its gunna get a birthday.)

Yeah thats what I am thinking Chimo. Maybe even diaphram problem due to lack of use.

Is there any way of testing the fuel pump?

Are they a throw away item? or can you buy a kit?

Might have to give the local merc dealer a call tomorrow.

And yes.... once it dies you can start her again and go through the same thing.

Thanks

Mine were both replaced as I think the diaphram "unit" was sealed as such.

Took ages to work out the problem the first time; a few minutes ten motor hrs later.

Lets us know if this turns out to be the problem pls.
