Hey
Well I have about 30 ltrs of premix for a 2 stroke that I need to get rid off. I have a 4 stroke mower so that's no good... I have 3 cars 2 late models that I would not be keen to put it in and an old ( 1989) ford capri turbo.
So would it be ok to lob into the capri or should I give it away? if so to who...
I am at Thorneside.
By old Nov 08.
Cheers,
Steve

Mate throw 5-10 litres at a time in the capri with fresh fuel and the oil mix will hardly be noticable when diluted.
Won't hurt the lawn mower much either maybe stop the exhaust from rusting by coating it with oil.

Or if it smells like turps / linseed / blah / yuk, it makes a good weed killer.
Tell you what the old 2.3 and 9.9 run heaps better with a fresh brew of 50:1 cf to what was in the tanks and got drained.
Like RAG said a little bit at a time isnt too bad in the car tank if you add plenty of fresh on top.
Cheers

PS I would not put it in my '73 160cc Victa Mustang and thats a 2 stroke;)
Note, you cant use a water cooled 2 stroke motor oil, in a 2 stroke air cooled motor.

David, not meaning to contradict, but I have done that for years and years. Are you sure it's not the other way round? Don't put 2 stroke oil designed for air cooled engines into a water cooled engine?

ive run my 4 stroke mower permantly on 2 stroke 50:1 now 100:1 :), cause im lazy and i just siphon5l from the boat each time i need it
mower is 10 years old now briggs n straton 275, dont blow smoke sounds ok might blow up one day but not so far

Mowers are low performance
Wouldn't run it in the air cooled dirtbike or chainsaw though.
Combustion chamber temps much higher and not a pretty result as oils designed for a temperature range from crankcase to cylinder. Some of the surfactants and additives are different as well . Different bearing tolerences as well on high end stuff.

It will last longer, esp now on 100:1, friction is friction and oil decreases it as well as lubes the valves, tcw3 is near ashless also, so it's all good, actually better than good it's also got quality anticorrosives in it, I happily run my low performance 4 strokes on boat fuel.

just realised i havnt checked the sump oil in it in those 10 years either, something to do today
it gets used once a week for about a hours running.
I only know what the oil company told me, and that is dont use the outboard fuel in the mower, as the mower is air cooled, and needs different oil to cope with the heat.
I will be lead by the experts on this one, but make the call yourself to Shell, or who ever, and then do what makes you tick.

David I suspect what they mean is don't run tcw3 as the exclusive oil in an air cooled 2 stroke...this relates to the flash point of the oil, tcw3 can flash away a little early for air cooled 2 strokes when they are under high rpm.

I use old 50:1 outboard fuel in my 2stroke victa after adding 30ml/lit 2stroke mower oil

Steve,
I've been running old 50:1 fuel from the o/b auxillary tank in my 4stroke mower for over 5 years. It's a masport with a briggs and stratton and is 30 years old. I'm sure the 50:1 has given it a bit longer life!!
Cheers
Black Runner,
I am only referring to two stroke mowers, in my discussion.
In a 4 stroke, I dont have any issues. It would work as an upper cylinder lubricant

i wouldnt exactly call a 2stroke outboard high performance either 30hp from 500cc aint eactly cutting edge
