Cast Nets

Hello, What are the advantages/disadvantages of a nylon versus mono cast net. i am looking to buy one and was wondering from people who have had experience if there is a difference?

Personally I prefer a mono cast net because once wet it does not increase weight as much as nylon does. Nylon does not seam to suffer quite as badly when rips occur however they do tend to snag worse when they do.

All nets however need good treatment and regular cleaning and drying to mainteain them in good order. A good washdown in fresh water to remove the salt then an overnight soak in freshwater with fabric softener added then dried the following day will have your nets, both mono and nylon, in good condition for many years to come.
