It seems everybody the last fortnight have been catching good size reds up and down the coast so we whizzed out to give a shot. the idea was out 5 pm back 7 am.

Well done Ozbee, what a top night you would have had. I love red fishing. How far out are you going, and what would the depth be?
Cheers

Geez Ozbee, that is a sensational result. All we can do is find the odd one or two. We'll have to get out and try harder.

Hey Ozbee,

Good catch mate. You know they are on when you get doubs and your in 60m + of water.

I'm interested in the way you've got your hook set up. How do you tie it so they present like that? And what are the benefits of riggin them like that?

Cheers Pazz

Derrr,

I'd guess tru turns with a running stinger on surecatch leader - floatbait style - with lumps of whole squid and fish.

Nice catch ozbee - what side do you hold your tongue??

yes there tru turn hooks either 9 os or 8 os ,7os size doesn't matter. the reason there snelled is at depths its very easy to pull out the hook out of the mouth in large mouth nannys. by laying the bait horizontal because the turn in the hooks make them sit apart at the barb. if the fish turns as he fight the other hook quite often will hook the outside cheek also . the other advantage also is you jag many hussar etc which make great bait.

it is quite common to get doubles as fish will go for the other hook as it is always outside the mouth still holding bait really i should say extremely common i have a few photos from other trips which may give you a guide

above shows two trout fighting the same rig. because that that top hook is only snelled it can slide enough to leave some bait exposed even though the first hook is down the first trout gob.

a bit of bushy filming hope you enjoy
