Gold Coast Heavy Tackle Tournament

Well done to Keith, Benny, Ollie and the boys for first place in the Gold Coast Heavy Tackle Tournament on the weekend with a tagged Striped Marlin for Keith's towered 40' Black Watch, the old Ocean Blue from Vanuatu renamed to Yvonne and winning on countback. Take Time, Phil McCloy's 40' Caribbean from over the border and a LMGFC boat came 2nd with a Blue, from Mistress, Barry Alty's towered 49' Don Senior custom with Ross McCubbin driving with a Blue and us on Nauti Suzanne a 33' Obrien with the only tagged Blue on the 2nd day. Was good to christen Van's new 60kg rods with me in the new chair. I think there were 25 odd boats in it and not many put in a full day the 2nd day with a strong wind warning issued and the usual current againt southerly on the shelf standing up the seas.

Few $$$$$ on the deck there smithy. You fishing the Mooloolaba tournament this weekend?. I know work2fish (Craig) is fishing on Animal with steve and kelly. Next wed looks good atm so I might see you out there. You fishing The Fraser comp at all? I am towing the boat up to give it a crack this year we'll see how we go. Send us a P.M. if you've got any pointers you can give me about fishing the reefs off waddy. Cheers Mate Brendan.......

it was an awsome weekend pitty about the saturday weather gettin so rough out wide but it was well worth it now. I was stoked to get my first run out with benny keith and the boys on Yvonne, and to come away with a win was even better. it was the first tournament they won i think so i can now claim i am their good luck charm.;) ;D

Fishing with tiagra 130's is a new lesson all together as i had never used anything bigger then 80's and i can now say they are a mean piece of equiptment. The only thing that was dissapointing was we could of had a double but the second Billy didn't hook up. ( and i was on the rod:-[ ). overall it was a great weekend, even though there were hardly any fish around i think 4 to be exact over 2 days and 26 boats.

Lets just hope the blues turn up this weekend so we can go out and have some more fun. Also congats to Smithy and the boys on the blue on Saturday as it was very very hard fishing in those conditions, so well done for getting her tagged in that rubbish.
