Just had two friends over from England who were mad keen to catch some fish over the Easter period. The pressure was on because they had already caught some good fish with Roger B from Mooloolaba at the start of their trip. Fortunately the fish played the game and we had a couple of good days catching wahoo, a GT, a spaniard, a rainbow runner and lots of different tuna.

Hopefully they stick around a bit longer, the fish that is!!!

Tight lines,

Phil

Thanks Scott,

I waited two years for them. Last year was a shocker and we had one bite off a line after we hooked up a small tuna for about 5 trips for them.
I think i have seen you fishing in the trench earlier on in the season for marlin, up near the top end?

Awsome catch Phil I'm jealous - not bad for a couple of poms.
Are you sure Roger wasn't in the cabin ?

bannana,

No just bananas and rabitts.

How many mullet did you catch?

Good to see your pics Phil. I obviously knew you were killing it out there. Was excitement plus seeing the 2700 Noosa Cat punch through that breaking wave though! Lol!

Smithy,

There were a couple of hairy moments that day I was very glad to have your company out there in those conditions.

Did you go the heavy tackle competition down the Gold Coast.

All the best,

Phil

This is what I put in the Marlin Bar.

Well done to Keith, Benny, Ollie and the boys for first place in the Gold Coast Heavy Tackle Tournament on the weekend with a tagged Striped Marlin for Keith's towered 40' Black Watch, the old Ocean Blue from Vanuatu renamed to Yvonne and winning on countback. Take Time, Phil McCloy's 40' Caribbean from over the border and a LMGFC boat came 2nd with a Blue, from Mistress, Barry Alty's towered 49' Don Senior custom with Ross McCubbin driving with a Blue and us on Nauti Suzanne a 33' Obrien with the only tagged Blue on the 2nd day. Was good to christen Van's new 60kg rods with me in the new chair. I think there were 25 odd boats in it and not many put in a full day the 2nd day with a strong wind warning issued and the usual current againt southerly on the shelf standing up the seas.

Well done Phil, the lads should be going home really happy that they landed some cracking fish, not to mention the ones that got away! It's a shame they will miss the snapper, with that nip in the air at night now I can't wait to get the plastic rod off the rack.

All the best, Rog
