took dad out for a fish this morning around 9mile reef hopefully for a mackeral or wahoo.
we trolled some halco 190's and screamer lures for around an hour without a bump untill one of the rods hooked up, it ran for about 80m or more before slowing down and i thought it may have been a mackeral untill it bite through 90lb wire!
5 min later we caught a yellow fin tuna around 7kilo on a screamer.
a few other boats caught some tuna aswell before leaving. obne of the halco's on the 24kilo outfit (tyrnos 30 and livefibe m10) kept doing flips and wouldnt swim straight and as i was crankin it in a huge boil came behind the lure but turned at the last second and about 5m a massive bowwave follewed by a huge hit (looked like someone through some big bricks on my lure) and then floowed by a screaming run.
i had the drag pritty bloody tight to stop it getting on the bommie*(which we were right over) so the rod tip spend more time in the water then out.
after about 5min of brutal tight drag skull dragging my pb gt hit the surface.
after a few very quick pics we speared him back into the water.
we actually saw some big something swimming around the reef this morning but couldnt tempt them on any popper of plastic im guessing they were gt aswell.
hooked onto anohter tuna aswell before something decided to eat the swivel and bite me of.
ps dad took pic and i get tell u now it was much bigger then wat it looks in photo, forot to measure it as i wanted to get it back into the water in top condition

hahaah i will swap you tweed for fiji:P
jeremy- the water was slightly stained from all the fresh, the bar wasnt to kind and alot of boats didnt go out cause of the swell.
thought i might add some pics of the lure afterwards, it straight out of the bow before this

Yeah I reckon around 20kg...

GT's are hard to put a weight on I reckon.....But more often than not people over estimate by quite a lot.

nar i didnt measure it i only had it out of the water for around 30sec. i dont know im guessing it is so dark because of the reef it lives on.
