GRAVE fears are held for three fishermen who have been missing off the central Queensland coast for more than three days.
Nine fixed-wing aircraft, five helicopters, water police and Volunteer Marine Rescue have started the third day of the search for the fishermen and their 5.1-metre half-cabin fishing vessel.
The men aged 18, 34 and 50 have been out on the water for almost four days after failing to return from a Wednesday night fishing trip from their hometown of Burnett Heads.
They were scheduled to return at 3am on Thursday.
A police spokesman said the men weren't expecting to be out on the water for this long so could have issues with supplies.
He said no EPIRB had been activated.
While the initial search took place between Gladstone and Bundaberg, the spokesmen said the search was now taking place between Fraser Island and Yeppoon.
Australian Maritime Safety Authority Spokeswoman Tracey Jiggins said the search would take place over 2000 square nautical miles.
It will continue until last light today.
