Has anyone had any luck with a particular prop on a 480 quintrex. I am using a 80hp Yamaha 4 stroke on my freedom sport. I have the factory s/s 13x17 fitted. When I bought it, it had been set up from factory with the engine quite deep in the water and was getting 59km/h at 5900rpm. I have since lifted the engine 2 holes and am now getting 60km/h at 6000rpm. I have a 13x19 prop coming and I think that this will be pretty good. Another prop that has been suggested is a Merc Vengeance 13x18. I am told this will ventilate less when turning with the motor jacked out and give me a good cruise speed.
My top speed is of no concern to me, but I would really like a better cruise speed. With the 13x17 yamaha prop I am getting 39km/h at 4200. Am told the Merc prop will get that up to about 45km/h.
Anyone tried any of these or something else.
Cheers...

Is that the true 13x17 black steel yamaha prop or is it actually a 13 something x 17p yam prop? If it is the first you will not get better numbers from any prop you find. I ask because the vengeance is not a straight 13.
If yours is the true 13 prop...What about another hole up and be very happy you are doing better than 90% of all others out there.
cheers fnq

Thanks FNQ, the prop is the factory S/S 13x17 which I believe is a true 13, the alloy 13x17 is actually 13.25x17. Is that what you meen. Anyway I have managed to borrow a few props that I was interested in so I will post the results for everyone to see after I get out and test these down at the local ski lake (still water).
As for going up another hole, the ventilation plate is just visible at speed now and the Yamaha 17 prop seems to ventilate a bit to easy, even at this setting. Plus I can't lift outboard any higher without redrilling the transom which I am reluctant to do.
Cheers...
