Hi guys,

Has anyone had anything to do with either of these boats?

I am looking to upgrade and any advice or pointers would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Nick

I'd have the cruiser over the Tasman any day of the week

Hi Nick
Having owned a Cruisecraft 550 you can't do no wrong in owning these boats. I had a 150 h.p. Optimax on the boat and she fairly flew, with good economy.

Thanks guys, I read a recent article in Trailer Boat and the author states that providing the boat in in exceptional condition then good name boats will have a good resale for years to come ect.

What do you think about the Cruise Craft that I posted being a 97 model. Is that going to be a bit old? Its more then 8 years older then the boat I have now. I guess it all comes down to the condition?

I just realised that I posted the wrong boat in the second link . This is the Cruise Craft in mention.

Not really relevant, but here goes anyway.
My father had a mid 1970's Tasman 50hp merc, reasonable boat, but not much deadrise, it would slam pretty hard in Port Philip Bay chop.
But in the photos in the link, it seems they might have put a few degrees into the hull.

Good luck

Ok my thoughts are that there is little or no information on the hull or the motor, no mention of hours or options other than the Lowrance gear. Not having much experience with selling over the net is this a cost saving thing or inexperience selling this way :-/ The boat seems to ahve spent its life outside juding by the pics which by the way there are very little of:-/ again is this a cost saving thing:-/

I still prefer the cruiser, perhaps I'm biased though as I'dd love one ::) although I'd also perhaps consider the southwind as well, but I'd be taking a REAL good look over it before any committment on your part.

But thats just me........sceptical!

Thanks guys,

Daz, I have a 5.1 meter Javelin (open). A handy boat for fishing the rivers and reef but we want to get something that protects you from the elements ie. North Easterly Chop!

hey nick.

I have an outsider 550. its a great boat.

It comes down to what exactly you want in a boat.

As for worrying about the age of the hull, if it is in good nick its not worth worrying about, I would be more concerned with what is pushing it along. and then age plays its part there.

I wanted glass, v berth walk around cabin and a new motor so i bought the one i did.

I am selling it now to buy a house and a bigger cruisecraft but i will miss it.

here is a link to it http://www.ausfish.com.au/vforum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=235

happy to take 34k

let me know what you think.

Cheers.

Todd.

I had a 80's model Tasman back in those days, yeah it was an O.K. boat, but it felt like a little boat. Not a lot of freeboard and it didn't really like the Port Phillip chop as previously mentioned. I'm not sure what the later models are like but I reckon the 550 outsider would be a better option. I reckon I'd look out for a good seafarer or hainse if I was looking in that size of boat.

cheers

Rhys

that savage tasman linked looks nothing like the old model which people are basing their opinions on
my v nose punt had more deadrise then the old tasman that one is a completly different hull
