Sommerset Golden

Last week I went to Sommerset to kill some time chassing Bass. No luck on the Bass, a lot of soundings but no interest. On the way back to the ramp I slowed near a bank in about 15ft of water and had some good looking returns on my sounder. I decided to troll a purple deepdiving Hot Lips lure at about 2.5 kph. Within 30sec the reel was peeling off line, the result was a 50cm Golden.

That's a great beefy yellow football, well done! I don't know whether you've ever kept one but I tried some (beer battered) at a DPI function way back... tasted pretty good.

I haven't tried a Hot Lips lure before, might have to give one a go. Have you caught many bass on them?

Purple is a great colour at Somerset, I also like fluro green and bronze at the moment, esp if the lure has some stripes or bars. Did you try trolling for bass around the pelican point area????
Did ok there 3 weeks ago on Blitz Bagas.
