flat bar going out at 5.30, but sloppy outside.

First troll across the 9 mile saw a nice yellowfin a fraction under 4 kg hit the deck. Think I was the second boat there at that time.

Another half hour and a mack tuna was landed.

No more hits after another 2 hours or so and I went wider looking for the pro fish traps but couldn't find them. I was looking in 50-60m of water East of Pt Danger where I have seen them before. Anyone able to give me some general area marks? The current was racing so the floats might have been half submerged.

Anyway, just wide of the 9 mile on my way there, had a hookup on the shotgun 6kg. Big of chaos there clearing the other 2 lines, but got things under control. Good first run but then came in pretty east had me thinking another tuna, until I saw a streak of silver which got me excited. Took a few more minutes to sink the gaff and then I had to find the bat. Nice wahoo going 10.5 kg.

Best days fishing in the new tub yet and my first wahoo on a trolled lure - landed a couple on live tuna and had some bite offs on lures before too. This one ate a pakula mini (?) cockroach in lumo running 120 lb leader. Only lost one strand of the skirt too!!

Put in a few more hours trolling and running around after that for no more hits. Back to the 9 mile and past Fidos. Few scattered birds around, but no tuna on the surface.

Water temp was over 28 at times and current was pushing. Hate coming back through the Tweed bar at low tide!

Nice hoo Jeremy. You're lucky with the skirt, those things can make a mess of them.

Cheers

Jeremy,

Last time we went out we came across fish traps about 10kms E/SE of the the nine mile in about 80m of water. Listening on the radio yesterday to a couple of Charter operators on Paul Burts radio show they were calling the current at 3 to 4 knots which is ripping so the bouys might have been under.

About a month ago there were a heap of traps due north of Tweed Spot X off point danger. We fished both sets the last couple of times and came up empty handed.

I might have to run the tinny out this week and grap some yellowfin. I love sushimi.

Oh and wait until your coming back through the bar on the runout low IN AN OPEN TINNY !!!

What electronics are you running? She should serve you well if the floor and transom are good. They are a legendary hull.

Rob, I have a Furuno FCV600L sounder and Garmin 2006C chartplotter. Big upgrade from the last setup. Still have alot to learn about using both, but making slow progress.

I am finding the V146c just a bit too small to fish 2 up comfortably, perfect for one. It is much more comfortable than the centre console was tho. Will be a great platform to get my 2yo son out on the water and into fishing soon too.
