Spencer,

So many brands out there. I've been kayak fishing for 4 or so years now. The main brands I see out there are: Hobie, Ocean Kayak, Viking, Old Town. Suggest you go to a kayak retailer and demo a few different types/brands. Generally fishing kayaks will be sit-on-top types (not sit-in). It all comes down to what you plan to do with it and home much gear you plan to have in it.

I fish wivenhoe a little - particularly during winter when the bass school-up (in summer all you tend to catch are catfish). I generally fish out of the brisbane valley sailing club area. Though you can easily fish out of Logans Inlet.

There will be a kayak/ canoe fishing convention again at wivenhoe in mid-Sept, which will be a good opportunity to see what kayaks everyone are using and how they have fitted them out.

Cheers,

Pete
