Shark bites fisherman on finger off Cairns

A MAN has suffered a shark bite while fishing off Cairns in north Queensland and has been taken to Cairns Base Hospital in a stable condition.
The man was bitten while fishing at Batt Reef about 10.15am (AEST) yesterday, a Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) spokeswoman said.
QAS paramedics met the vessel at Yorkeys Knob Marina, north of Cairns, about an hour later and took the man to the Cairns Base Hospital.
It was not clear if he lost his finger in the attack, or whether he was on a private or chartered fishing vessel.
