cheers ian
Ian, i have never known a reel seat that was fitted properly in the first place to be removed & reused, usually they have to be cut off :-/..
Maybe by keeping on heating & perseverance with twisting, you may prove me wrong as if you can get a little movement it may give..good luck..

They only usually let go when you don't want them too. ie 200kg Marlin on
Might have to just persist with the heat.

This is a hard one if you want to re-use the reel seat and blank. Heating the reel seat to the point where you can twist it off will cause damage to the blank if the reel seat has been fitted correctly. The radiant heat will surly soften the resin in the blank and you could twist the blank quite literally. You can try this method though, heat the reel seat and place a piece of pipe over the blank and slide it down to the real seat, preferably a size that just fits the inner diameter of the hood. You then tap the water pipe with a hammer to break the seal between the glue and real seat body.
I have done it this way for years on repairs where customers want to keep the real seat and blank….. Worked every time. Now, if you don’t want or have need for the blank then I would cut the rod at either end of the real seat and then get the inside of the real seat machined out in a metal lathe. That’s about all you can do mate with out cutting the real seat off.
