G'day all have a 2000 model going on long trip and mate asked me if i had a spare sheer pin but i had look in the manual no mention of a pin.

No mate no shear pin but a spare prop never goes astray although it's not as if you can ever change it easily on the water.

Rough rule of thumb is if it has a through prop exhaust then no shear pin. ie prop with big holes in it.
But if the prop looks like and old trawler prop then the chances are it needs a shear pin.
Is your mate in his sixties or later??
If I recall a shear pin hasn't been used in outboards that size since the mid 70's

he is 36 but used to crusie round in his dads old boat as a kid.
