Hi,

For members who are in interested there is a documentary on Foxtel tonight on the "Fugu" fish. It is on the Travel & Living channel at 8.30pm Qld time or 9.30pm AEDST. Are there any Ausfish members out there that have been game to eat the poisonous Fugu fish?

Hi Shaun,

I ate it for the first time on Friday night of last week while in Japan, The presentation of the fish was amazing and the hype surrounding eating it made the meal very exciting. It was sliced so finely that you could see the full pattern of the plate through the fish. In reality it is not an outstanding tasting fish but that isn't really the reason you eat it.

Six of us ate it and we all lived to tell the tale. Mind you in Japan you have to be specially licensed to cook it so I actually felt pretty safe eating it. No tingling of the lips etc. Wouldn't be eating it in any old place though.

The food we had while we were there was just incredible.

Cheers,

Janelle

Apparently when you are an apprentice Fugu chef you complete your 1st year by preparing and eating your own meal, so if you are a 2nd year apprentice you are by all accounts doing well :-)
