First chance to get out for a fish today since the weather had been terrible of late........ With a fair storm hitting us during the night and going thru quick we left the harbour around 5.15 heading to some new ground i obtained last trip out to have a look at. The wind was averaging 10 to 11 knots from the NW with the forecast tipping it to be 15 to 20 NW/SW . After arriving at the new ground we decided to anchor on a good show with a heap of small reds one after another coming on board........... Then the first keeper a nice pan sized Small Mouth nannagi folled by another then a couple hussars then the bite shut down and we headed further out in search of a couple reds.
Arriving there where my Brother in law was already anchored we hooked into about another hundred undersized reds and managed one legal red and 4 lippers.... a black king......... Couple venus tusks........another nice Small mouth..........Hussars brown and pink........... A bludger trevalley ........... one cod..and a good spangled.... But the spanish eluded us .
Dolphins in a small pod kept us entertain the entire day diving in and out of the waves and swimming up to the boat with a small calf........Then we were visited by a 15 foot tiger shark that swam awfully close to the dolphins but both didn't seem to care about each other .
The weather dropped out to a lovely day for the trip home cept for the last 9 km where the Northerly was uncomfortable
But great to get out and catch a feed and enjoy it away from the stressful usual of life.

JT,
Great to see you got out. Our guys did well on saturday. They went north in case that NW wind was still out wide.

Nice work JT, I headed out on Sunday and we got a feed but could've been better.

Heading out again on Wednesday, better tides and I think we'll do alright.

Nice fish and good to see ya daughter getting amongst them as well, watch out, having a female onboard means your catch will be smaller as she will eventually start to outfish you, just ask my missus. Still its fun watch the facial expressions when they see how big some of those fish can get...

I've even got her baiting and unhooking her own fish mate..............Don't think she's going to out fish me thou last 2 trips she's been spewy Louie and slept alot she's my video cameraman too so missed out on some good footage but we still managed some.
she was amazed by the dolphins playing around the whole day and so close tourists would pay thousands to see some of the stuff us fisherman get to see at times........snakes turtles eagle rays sharks dolphins awesome stuff

Certainly sounds like a smorgasboard of varieties.

Glad to see some fish being caught somewhere.

Totally, we saw a Huge Manta Ray jump and clear the surface by about 6 feet. ALso saw a pod of dolphins hanging round the reef, thats when the trout decided to go quiet.

A few more trips and she will get her sea legs
