Batson RCLB80M spiral wrapped with Alps triangle reel seat, camo split grips and gold guides.
Proper flash one bloke!

Weave is 98 x 168 threads, madeira #40 design and C wrap.
7 layers.

No.. I don't have a life. :'(

Work in progress pics.

First pic is before tightening and packing.
By continually tightening and straightening every time you swap a thread you can get it pretty tight right off the bat.
With so many thread changes, trying to pull a loose thread in the middle of the weave after you finish can result in broken threads.

Note the high tech weaving bench.
I prefer the standard type looms for weaves under 100 threads. This is a Doc Ski unit, but there are many available.
I still like to use a text book as a tensioner.
It might take time, but it needn't take money.

Hi Owen
Looks great as usual love the book still using one my self though I have added a brokren rod tip in a spring allows me to go back a turn without losing tension. again great job well done

Lucky you like tigers matey.
The weave looks stunning, the 'poxy job is brilliant and the tiger wrap under the guides really adds an extra element.
Well done.

Is it possible to get a picture of the 'loom'. I really have to try a weave and I'm in the beginning stages of my first build for over 12 months and thinking of a simple weave for a change.

Scott,
Maybe you should drag your sorry arse up for a weekend and I'll give you a loom.
'course we may have to go fishin' too!

Owen,

You have joined a club of very elite "Weave Artists." I include Doc, Jim Upton, Hiro Tanaka, Mark Crouse and now yourself in that category. Your "tiger" is really something special. I don't know how you would ever be able to charge a customer for the work? Probably best to keep something this good for yourself for advertising purposes.

Fantastic job all round.

Regards
Mark

Gday Owen. That is one good looking weave. Do you think it's the best one you've done?

Methinks it is.

Thanks guys.
Mark,
I doubt anyone would be willing to pay what you would have to charge for this stuff to make a quid.
I'm not interested in selling rods. I just do it for myself and the odd friend. (My friends are odd by definition ;-)

Dave,
Yes, I believe this is the best so far.

that rod is off its head one of the best if seen by far, normally dont care for picture wraps but those tigers look unreal.

Thanks all,
I consulted my lunchbox and its reaction was :LMAO:

The real legends have forgotten more than I'll ever know.

I'm very happy with how it turned out, but I'm still learning more each rod.

Hi Owen
Like that rod. In fact I was talking about that tiger with one of the members from here at the tinnie show. Would like to learn how to do that-- not to mention i have tigers everywhere at home.
Will have to get some advice about rod building.
Great looking rod.

G'day Ronnie,
If we can ever sell this place we're looking at moving to Beachmere or somewhere near, so we may be able to arrange a lesson or two.

Hi Owen
It would be great to have a lesson or two. Maybe then i would have arod that I really like. The store bought ones are too heavy, too long, don't feel right-- i can never get one i really feel comfy with.
Would be nice to see you in Beachy or nearby. Not a bad little place to live, but since going north for abit of a holiday i am in love with Toogoom just up from Hervey Bay. ??? Both of us have said we wouldn't mind retiring there in the future.

Hi Ronnie
Have to say you really know how to pick the nice spots, Owen and i thought at one stage his job was going to take us to Hervey and that was our choice on where to live as well. When we thought we where coming back that way then beachmere just appealed to us, away from the city but close enough to work.

Ever want to come up this way for a week end lesson you and your partner are quite welcome, we have heaps of room.

oh and that goes for anyone else that would like to come up even for the fishing Scott, hook up coming up soon.
