Hey all, Looking to the future to purchase a new 4.5m Runabout. Have looked at Allycraft, Quintrex and Brooker boats on the net so far. Looking for around a 40Hp motor but no higher (2 stroke is fine, cheaper) . Forward steer, 2 seats and preferably a back bench for the kids. Will be used for running around with family and fishing with mates, estuary and moreton bay (fair weather), not outside. Must come with trailer and have high sides.

There are a couple boats around the mark in those brands. Anyone know any others? Or your chioce of the above mentioned brands

Budget around 20k.

Cheers.

Have you checked out Polycraft - 4.5 poly would struggle with 40 horses though...50 or 60 would be more suitable

I think you'll need a 50Hp. I have a 4.6m with a 50Hp 2 Stroke - excellent for what I use it for, but glad it doesn't have less horses. Good luck with your new purchase. Darren.

I have a 4.4m fibreglass runabout with a 50hp yamaha 2 stroke... I wouldn't want less, but I certainly don't need more. She's plenty good for fishing and tubing.

Sorry to all the Quintrex bashers but a 455 coast runner with 50 hp merc is perfect for what I do, rivers, bay and less than 2 mile from shore, good for mum and the kids yet still good enough to go slightly outside with a mate or two.

I own a similar boat in a Blue Fin but it is a 4.0 metre forward steer with a 40hp 2 stroke. Not a lot different to what you are looking at but it is a great boat. They do a 4.5 as well which I reckon is worth a look at too.

Cheers,

I've got a 4.6 Brooker with a 40 on it. The 40 is just fine, although I never have any more than 2 ppl in it. Nice boat, you could get it with a 50 or 60 on it for around your price range and it will have more extras than most others with it for that price.
